MISSION

DER’s mission is to distribute, produce, and support ethnographic and documentary media that foster cross-cultural understanding and empathy, and prioritize underrepresented voices.

 


HISTORY

For over fifty years, DER has been a leader at the intersection of documentary filmmaking and social science research, and is an internationally recognized center for documentary anthropology and ethnographic film.


STAFF & BOARD

DER’s staff is committed to keeping DER programs thriving day-to-day, curating, circulating and stewarding our catalogue of films,  and supporting filmmakers in their efforts to create informed, sensitive and well-research media productions.

Our Board provides essential leadership and vision as we move the organization forward.
