Twenty-five years ago three visual anthropologists and a documentary filmmaker released two innovative ethnographic documentaries, “A Country Auction” and “Can I get A Quarter.” The films were screened in a number of film festivals and broadcast in over sixty U.S. Public Television stations. On the twenty-fifth anniversary of these films, we returned to Richfield, PA where the auction occurred and screening the film and held a discussion with people who had been at the sale. “A Country Auction Revisited” resulted. Now for the first time, all three of these films plus a selection of documents pertaining to the original production and a photo gallery are available on one DVD.
