Catriona McKenzie

Catriona McKenzie (shown here with Papunya artist Michael Nelson Tjakamarra) received a BA from the University of New South Wales in 1990, but her film career was kick-started by Lester Bostock's Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) Koori Course, where she began by studying scriptwriting in 1995. In 1996 she did an exchange at New York's University Film School (TISCH) and spent a month of that time working for Ridley Scott's production company, travelling solo and running a cafe for dogs.

Catriona recently graduated from AFTRS with a MA in Directing. She has spent the past eight years directing several documentaries for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and winning such honors as the Best Short Drama at the 2001 Torino Film Festival, Best New Director Award at the St Kilda Film Festival and Best Direction, Australian Drama at Flickerfest 2000. Catriona has just finished co-directing Remote Area Nurse (RAN) a mini-series set in the Torres Straits by Chapman Productions and was in post production on Grange a half-hour drama for ABC.
