Fermín Rivera studied in the Universidad del Cine and graduated from the National School of Experimentation and Filmmaking (ENERC, by its name in Spanish) of the National Film Institute (INCAA, by its name in Spanish). He also graduated from the National School of Dramatic Arts. He studied editing and dramatic structure with the filmmaker Miguel Pérez. Fermín was a disciple and collaborator of Jorge Prelorán.
He made documentaries for San Pablo Film and the Buenos Aires Press Workers Union. He coordinated commercial spots for NGOs. He is Professor at the National University of Arts (IUNA), and Professor and Researcher for the University of Buenos Aires. Fermín was director and producer of Pepe Nuñez, Luthier (2005), his first documentary. He won a Film Production Contest from the Province of San Luis, Argentina; participated in twenty international film festivals and was nominated for the Condor Award from the Association of Film Journalists of Argentina.
