Hannu Hyvönen is a 53 year old environmentalist, campaigner, journalist and documentarian. His unversity degree is in mathematics in University of Oulu in Finland.
His pacifist radio play, Ohi on, was broadcast in 1985 on Yle in Finland. He has also directed a radio documentary following indigenous peoples youth conference in Saamiland, 1996.
Since 1998, he has been member of documentary group Signs of Life which is making environmentally-oriented documentaries and educational videos. He directed Organics For Forests (2000) and is currently working on many documentary projects.
He is also an organic farmer and with his wife Virpi Virolainen they have one of world's northermost fruit tree garden and nursery in Finland, Tuulimäen Puutarha
Hannu Hyvönen is a chair of the Northern Heritage Association which is seeking and selecting the local fruit tree varieties for northern conditions. The documentary of this journey into the northern gardens is also underway.
