Purchase Options

DER prices are determined by the audience and organizational type. The main licensing categories are detailed below. If you’re not sure which category best fits you or your organization, please call (617) 926-0491 or email orders@der.org – we’re happy to help.

Institutional Sales

Films purchased at the Institutional sale price may be used by a college, university, or large independent library or academic organization in the following contexts/situations:

  • In an academic/classroom setting
  • As part of an educational institution’s library catalog, and may be kept in the institution’s library and loaned out to patrons of said library an unlimited number of times

For an additional licensing fee, digital streaming rights may be purchased by academic institutions for storage on their own servers and streaming to their community. Please contact DER directly for a quote based on the length of the license period. DER does not currently offer digital streaming rights in perpetuity

Non-Profit Sales

Films purchased at the Non-Profit sale price may be used by a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, a community college, a tribal college, or a public library in the following contexts/situations:

  • As part of a specified number of private screenings for which no admission (including “suggested donations”) may be charged
  • As part of a small organization’s library collection for use solely by its patrons or members, not to be loaned out to the public at large

For an additional licensing fee, “digital rights” may be purchased by non-profit institutions for storage on their own servers and streaming to their community. Please contact DER directly for a quote based on the length of the license period. DER does not currently offer ”digital rights” in perpetuity.

Not-for-profit organizations should be prepared to present documentation of their non-profit status. Please note that community colleges, junior colleges, tribal colleges, and adult continuing education programs are the only types of academic institutions that qualify for DER’s non-profit pricing.
