The Manda Festival occurs every spring in Jharkand, India. For 9 days, all religious, caste, and racial divisions are completely abandoned as people from all walks of life come together to undertake physical ordeals in the name of world peace and unity.
Pradhuman Nayak, a member of the local tribe, will document and explore the festival with the world for the first time. Manda (working title) will follow devotees through the duration of the festival, and explore the power of the mind to overcome societal prejudice and intense bodily pain. In a time of increasing social change and modernization, this film explores human connections and experiences of pain.
