Jeff Daniel Silva
Jeff Silva is a filmmaker, professor and film programmer based in Boston. His recently completed projects Ivan & Ivana (2011) and Balkan Rhapsodies: 78 Measures of War (2008) have been exhibited at festivals and museums internationally, including MoMA’s Documentary Fortnight, The Viennale, Visions du Reel, Valdivia, Flahertiana, and DocAviv. Jeff has been programming cinema for the past 14 years at BALAGAN, an offbeat and alternative screening series which he co-founded in 2000.
From 2006-09 Jeff was a film instructor at Harvard University where he helped developed the Sensory Ethnography Lab curriculum alongside Lucien Taylor. The SEL is a practice-based program of visual anthropology exploring the interstices of art, anthropology and documentary film. Currently, Jeff is a professor of film at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) in Boston and is actively working on three new feature films.
